Summer Sendoff Soiree Scheduled for May 1Posted Apr. 28, 2014
Kent State University at East Liverpool will hold a “Summer Sendoff Soiree” on Thursday, May 1 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. The festival was organized by Kent State’s student government and Art Council in order to celebrate the end of the semester and to raise money for the Nign family, who suffered a grave tragedy earlier this year.
The event is free and open to the public, Kent State students as well as community members are encouraged to attend and to bring their families. A variety of activities have been planned for the festival including, a chalk art contest, photo booth, bungee cord run, joust station, a cotton candy machine and live music from local bands. Snow Diddley, Jippo, 2 Man Band and Keith Williams have agreed to play at the event. There will also be free food and drinks for individuals with a Kent State ID. Baskets will be raffled and donations will be collected to support the Nign family.
Jennifer Dissette, president of student government was excited to organize the event. "We are grateful for the support that we have received thus far from both the community and Kent State. I'm so glad we are able to find a way to help support the Nign family.”
Danielle Giambroni, vice president of student government echoed Dissette’s excitement for the event. "We were touched by both the tragedy that befell the Nign family and the outpouring of community support. We felt inspired and wanted to contribute and help out our fellow members of the Kent State family."
We encourage all community members to attend to have some fun and to show support for the Nign family.
