Salem Honors Students Hit Kent Campus

Salem Honors Students Visit Kent Campus

Seven students from the Kent State Salem campus participating in the Honors Program recently toured the Kent campus and completed a rigorous scavenger hunt.

Andrew Pfrenger, assistant professor of English and the Honors Program coordinator, arranged the visit. “They had to scour the whole campus for sculptures, specific buildings, interact with other students and even capture a picture of the elusive black squirrel,” he noted.

Pfrenger and the students had lunch with Donald Palmer, dean of the Honors College, as well as with honor students from the nursing and psychology programs on the Kent campus.

Aside from preparing for their personal futures, the Salem honor students are conducting one of their community service projects: the Giving Tree. A decorated tree in the Student Lounge contains the names and needs of 30 area children, each available for “adoption” by Salem students and staff.
