Open Auditions Announced for The Maiden's PrayerPosted Aug. 10, 2013
Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for the season’s fall theatrical production, The Maiden’s Prayer by Nicky Silver. Auditions are open to everyone, including students and community persons.
In Nicky Silver’s dramatic comedy, unrequited love threatens the marriage of golden couple Taylor and Cynthia. As his best friend and sister-in-law secretly pine after Taylor, each of their lives endures major changes, resulting from the choices they make. A tragedy tests the family loyalty of Cynthia’s sister, while Taylor’s best friend takes advantage of the opportunity as a means to fulfill his long-hidden desires. For mature audiences only, due to sexual content and strong language.
Auditions will be held on September 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. in the theatre of the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. If necessary, callbacks may be held on September 5.
Roles are available for three men and two women. Those auditioning have the choice of working from sides (selected scene excerpts) or they may perform a prepared monologue. The director may also choose sides for people. For specific role information, visit www.stark.kent.edu/theatre and click on Audition Information for All Shows in the right-hand column.
The production will be performed on November 1-3 and 8-10 in the Kent State Stark Theatre. Rehearsals commence on September 8 and will take place five evenings a week until opening.
Scripts (and audition sides or scene excerpts used for the auditions) are available for perusal for periods up to 24 hours from the secretary (330-244-5151) of the Fine Arts Building, Monday through Friday, during business hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.).
