OT Students Practice Their Skills Outside of the Classroom

Posted Apr. 4, 2011

OTA StudentsKent State at East Liverpool Professor Jen Tokash’s occupational therapy (OT) practice II class recently took an unconventional trip to Giant Eagle. The OT students emulated various physical disabilities to better understand what everyday tasks are like for those stricken with such illnesses.  At the grocery store students purchased items from their list and then prepared dinner in the OT kitchen/classroom. By better understanding the obstacles those with physical disabilities face every day, students will better understand the needs of their patients.
